What Our clients are saying

“Before beginning my story, let me acknowledge the obvious. It is not easy to identify with the, shall we say, unique needs for physical therapy and personal training of an attorney in his late 50’s who insisted on continuing to play highly competitive hockey. That said, I do think my story will be somewhat informative to anyone looking for assistance in those areas.

I like to kid Vicki Eddy about the nationwide, comprehensive search I conducted before going to her for physical therapy about six years ago. In fact, I looked in the Yellow Pages and noticed that her office was in close proximity to mine in Wellesley. My first ailment was a “golfer’s elbow” which resulted in virtually no strength in the arm. I was barely able to pick up a hockey stick, much less handle and shoot the puck. After about four to six sessions with Vicki, I was back on the ice booming slap shots ... or something like that.

This was just the beginning. I suffered a shoulder injury that made it painful to raise my arm to merely comb my hair. I was referred to a top shoulder specialist at the Brigham who gave me two alternatives: surgery or a combination of physical therapy and weight training for the injured shoulder. Naturally, I opted for the later and with the assistance of Vicki and Aidan Byrne, the shoulder has been pain-free for over four years.

Over the next few years, I suffered a number of other hockey-related injuries including groin pulls, a second-degree medial collateral knee ligament sprain, a severely bruised hip, and a very sore lower back. What’s an old guy going to do? Call Vicki and Aidan. They have worked with me on all of these injuries over the years, with amazing care, empathy, expertise, and SUCCESS. They are truly miracle workers.

Actually, as years have gone by, I have become less susceptible to injuries playing hockey - thanks to regular physical training sessions with Aidan, including core training. He has great knowledge and an incredible ability to establish a strong bond with his clients, regardless of their age, gender, physical condition, and athletic background.

When you go to One on One, it is like a family gathering. The clients get to know one another. Incredibly close working and personal relationships evolve with both Vicki and Aidan and great camaraderie ensues. No one looks forward to being injured or physical therapy and some do not look forward to personal training sessions. However, I think everyone looks forward to trips to One on One because of the expertise, atmosphere, and friendship.”

“At the recommendation of a neighbor, both my husband and I made appointments with Vicki.  We are in our early 60’s and want o continue to stay physically active for many years.  The purpose of the visit was to have Vicki consult with us regarding our physical capacity to pursue exercise.

During each 90 minute appointment, Vicki took a comprehensive physical history of all our aches and pains, joint complaints, history of back and neck pain,, and any problems relating to the heart.  She touched on realistic weight control, nutrition, sleep, time spent on the computer, whether we get short of breath on stairs…really an amazing array of questions to help determine what would work for us as individuals. She tested flexibility and strength and ran us through a short pace of both cardiac and strength training exercises.  In the end she advised us, based on all that she had asked, how to go forward realistically, and safely.  She was very clear when she quoted her own rheumatologist who told her years ago that the most important thing you must do is, ‘never stop exercising’.

Both my husband and I left One on One with a clear understanding about how to go forward, without hurting ourselves, and hopefully remain healthy and fit for years to come.  Now it is up to us to follow the recommendations Vicki outlined.  My husband and I agree that the time spent talking with a physical therapist who currently advises the 60 something crowd on appropriate exercise programs based on their individual needs was perhaps the best thing we have done for ourselves in years. Thanks Vicki……you are awesome”
